School History
Founded in 2001
In the fall of 2001, P.S. 178 opened its doors under the visionary leadership of then Principal Deirdre Budd. Alongside devoted teachers, supportive parents, and eager students, PS 178 immediately earned admiration from the community for its warmth and the focus on providing a quality education to every student. The school quickly became a place where students not only excelled academically but also flourished socially and emotionally. Initially established as a Kindergarten to second grade school, PS 178's success and community support led to its expansion, eventually becoming a beloved Kindergarten to fifth grade institution. Over the years PS 178 has continued to grow and evolve with new programs and community partnerships, maintaining its reputation for its dedication and excellence. Today, the school remains a beloved institution, a testament to the enduring values of community, education, and the heartfelt collaboration that has been the cornerstone of its existence since day one.
